Union Fire Fighters and Paramedics Raise 25 million annually for MDA
The yearly effort by union Fire Fighters and Paramedics to collect donations to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association is in full swing. Washington State Council of Fire Fighters members from the Burlington Professional Fire Fighters, and Skagit County Paramedics spent off-duty hours on a hot afternoon in August collecting donations from Skagit residents in Burlington WA. Despite a balmy 88 degree temperature, helpful commuters rolled down their windows making an effort to give what they could spare to support children in need.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association provides funding for research and treatment of muscle diseases. Every year in the United States and Canada, union members from the International Association of Fire Fighters collect over $25,000,000 in donations that go to directly fund research, treatment, and assistance for those suffering from Muscular Dystrophy nation wide.
Without the support and generosity of citizens in our communities, this yearly endeavor would not be possible.
